For the aloha life! (for a week anyway)
One of my wife Cindy's dreams has always been a Hawaiian Island cruise. It's officially on her "bucket list". Well, grab a pencil Cindy, and cross that baby off!
We've cruised with Norwegian twice before. We've enjoyed the experience immensely, so, a few years ago, we starting using the NCL-branded MasterCard, which allowed us to build points toward the next cruise every time we buy something. It took a chunk off the price of the cruise, which was a deal-maker for us. Just make sure you pay off your balance every month!
Fortunately for us, NCL is the major cruise line operating in Hawaiian waters.
Our ship: the Pride of America. Check it out. We'll be in cabin 9574, in case you're interested.
Those of you who know Cindy and I remember our bizarre Florida trip last winter where we got snowbound in Moline, Illinois after I locked the keys in our running car on the way to the airport. To make it up to her, I promised Cindy that we'd stay an extra day at our next destination. SOOO, we'll be spending a few nights in Honolulu before the cruise, at the Hawaii Prince Hotel, which is on the quiet end of Waikiki Beach. We'll have two full days! We'll spend one day on the beach, recovering from our journey. The second day we plan to rent a car and drive along the Oahu coast.
We leave Iowa Wednesday, February 4th. Our cruise ship sails from the Port of Honolulu on Saturday, February 7th. We return to port Saturday, February 14th, and take a red-eye flight back to Iowa. Should be back home safe and sound Sunday afternoon.
AS AN ADDED BONUS....
We'll also be reporting on the antics of Donna and Wayne, a local couple who booked the same cruise! What a coincidence! And Donna works for the same employer as Cindy, in the same department no less! What are the chances? At any rate, it should be fun to see what kind of hijinks they get into.
See map below for cruise itinerary. Hover your mouse over a port of call to see when we'll be there.
We plan to post each day from paradise, so stay tuned and sail "virtually" with us!
